On the PSLE.
T score gets complaints. Banding also gets complaints. Here. Take a ticket to the perfect world. Watch out, it's sharp.
Scrapping PSLE will not make the competition for popular Secondary schools any less. It's only going to make it more unpredictable. And then those from neighbourhood primary schools with mo affiliation will complain about how it is unfair.
It is what it is. Make the best of what it is. There is no perfect system to please everyone. Least of all, you.
Life's like that.
I'm telling why this sounds harsh. The first thing I read about the PSLE banding is complaints and critiques. Considered critique, I can take. Shooting theor mouth off. It hasn't even started and at least they trying something else. Give it time, see how it pans out in 2030. Then review, and change again, if needed.
Already, the new system allows those who scored 96 to compete with those who scored a 100. Those with the academic ability can afford to have small offs and mistakes. You're no longer competing in absolute numbers. However incremental, that's reducing the competition.
Bu the way, MOE's job is simply to teach my children to pass exams. Anything else from school is a bonus. Teaching them to love learning and life is my job as a parent. The Government didn't bring them into this world. I don't expect anyone else to be obliged to love and educate my child. Everything else is a bonus and a blessing.
They are alive and well. Life can be beautiful.
